The Brief
A room that
lives outdoors.

For RHS Chelsea 2024 we were asked to blur the line between house and garden, a furnished garden room set within the planting, dressed exactly as we would dress a home.
The concept was a threshold space: somewhere between inside and out, where layered interiors meet the green of the show. We built in natural timber, linen and antique pieces that softened against the planting, and kept the palette earthy so the flowers did the talking.
It was a chance to show House Nine’s approach in miniature, considered, warm and unmistakably lived-in, even for a week on Main Avenue.
The Concept

We designed the stand as a single garden room, open to the planting on every side. Furniture, textiles and art were chosen to feel collected rather than staged, so visitors could imagine the space as their own.
The Detail
Down to
the last stem.

Every layer was considered against the planting scheme, the weave of a rug against gravel, the patina of brass against foliage. The detail is what made the room feel real rather than a set.
