Cornish Lodge
The Brief
A lodge that
holds the light.
holds the light.
The Cornish Lodge is a coastal retreat designed for slow weekends by the sea. Our clients wanted somewhere restful and elemental, a house that takes its cues from the dunes and the light rather than from fashion.
We worked in natural textures: painted shiplap, woven rush, antique brass and linen, with soft greens and warm rust tones pulled from the headland outside. The interiors are calm and barefoot, built to be opened up to the weather and lived in lightly.
The result is a lodge that feels weightless, full of light, easy to be in, and entirely of its place.

The Living Spaces
Open to
the weather.
the weather.
The main living space runs open and low, with steel-framed glazing onto the deck. Pale oak boards, natural rugs and soft seating keep it light and easy, a room that fills with sea air the moment it is opened.

The Bedrooms
Sleep
with the dunes.
with the dunes.
The bedrooms are pared back and restful, linen, painted shiplap and panelled walls, with greens and ochres pulled straight from the headland outside. Simple, tactile and made for long, slow mornings.
“It feels like the beach itself has been brought inside. We never want to leave at the end of a weekend. The Owners
